Yo, check it out! This unfinished Railway Project got scrapped by the British in 1947, even though they had already made the line till Hatisinghmari. They wanted to connect Dhaka with Guwahati via Mymensingh, Jamalpurganj, Dewanganj Bazar, and Goalpara. The British started laying the Dewanganj Bazar - Mahendraganj - Rowmari-Hatisinghmari - Goalpara-Guwahati MG Railway line in 1937-40. But when India got partitioned in 1947, they decided to scrap the Dewanganj-Hatisinghmari section of the rail line that was still under construction. So, they never made it from Hatisinghmari to Guwahati. Fast forward to 1998, they made a new Bongaigaon-Goalpara-Guwahati BG Line, which included a badass 2298 meters long Naranarayan RcR Bridge over the Brahmaputra. Now, though, the Dewanganj-Shalur Morhe Road runs on the same path as the old MG railway line, connecting Rowmari with Dewanganj.
