On Saturday 2nd July, I traveled on Indore - Mhow - Indore DEMU. It was a nice experience as the journey took 45 minutes to cover the distance (without stoppages). Both ways, the train was almost full, in fact while returning from Mhow, there were hardly any window seats available. In Mhow, I clicked couple of photographs, out of which a memorable photo is being posted here, in which my DEMU is standing with Mhow-Khandwa MG passenger train. In another pic taken at Indore station (PF1) a large crowd has alighted from DEMU.

Regarding Mhow-Khandwa GC. Railway has started Khandwa-Sanawad first, since there is a thermal power station being built by NTPC who have deposited Rs.487 crores in railway's account for a line from Sanawad to the power station. Hence Khandwa-Sanawad is getting converted now. Earth work between both the towns have started.
Regarding Mhow-Sanawad, there is a 32 kms long ghat section for which a new line is under consideration which will reduce the curves and gradients from 1/32 to 1/100 while the overall distance from Mhow to Sanawad will be increased by 15 kms or so. Rs.450 crores have already been allotted for this work and currently ground survey is undergoing.

more...
with the current pace of work, it is clear that the whole Mhow-Khandwa section may take upto 10 years to complete. Let's hope for the best.

Yes, there are two lines from Indore to Rau and a single line up to Mhow. The second line from Rau turns towards Tihi (Pithampur) where CONCOR will be constructing a large container depot and from December onwards goods trains will start coming from Pithampur side. Attached herewith is a photo showing the double line towards Rau. However, only one line is currently operational. The second line would be ready by December I guess.
