Hauled by a mega offlink 13440 JHS (Jhansi) shed WDG- 3A "Shaki", the 1 hour late running 19606 Ajmer (AII)- Kolkata Chitpur Terminal (KOAA) SARE JAHAN SE ACHA Express comes honking like an EMD through the Down main line, and simultaneously crosses the 40 minutes late running...
more... 12023 Howrah (HWH)- Patna (PNBE) JAN SHATABDI Express hauled by 22363 WAP- 4E of HWH shed blasting through the Up main line.
Sare Jahan Se Acha is a train which gets a hell of loco links.. Name the shed, and this train has got it.. Howrah, Patratu, Abu Road, Itarsi, Tughlakabad, Jhansi and so on.. This East-West train gets average patronage on the Eastern part, but runs fairly crowded on the Western half of the country.. Once this train is extended to Ahmedabad (as announced in budget 2012-13) after the Ajmer- Ahmedabad gauge conversion project is completed, expect the train to run densely crowded throughout the journey..Afterall, Kolkata has just one daily train (4 trains overall) at the moment, that connects ADI with HWH/ SRC.
SARE JAHAN SE ACCHA Express uses the KOAA- Asansol- Dhanbad- Barkakana- Katni Murwara- Bina- Bhopal- Ratlam- Ajmer route.
Patna Jan Shatabdi has got RSA (Rake Sharing Arrangement) with another Jan Shatabdi, namely 12365/ 12366 Patna (PNBE)- Ranchi (RNC) Jan Shatabdi Express. But a unique thing is that while 12023/ 12024 runs 6 days a week, 12365/ 12366 runs daily. And both these trains simply exchanges the rake, either weekly, or daily.
12023/ 12024 follows the Howrah- Burdwan- Asansol- Madhupur- Jasidih- Jha Jha- Patna route of ER/ ECR, and covers 532 kms.
The longest Jan Shatabdi is the 12051/ 12052 Mumbai CST (CSTM)- Madgaon (MAO) one, which covers 580 kms.
