What is the status of Jaleswar - Digha line? Jaleswar and Digha are only 40 km apart and while this train doesn't stop at Jaleswar, it takes roughly ~4 hrs to cover the same distance doing a giant U turn.

The 72 km rail extension project was approved in 2011-12 and aims to transform Digha by attracting more tourists and boosting local businesses. The project was delayed due to land acquisition issues, requiring 507 acres of land, of which 137 acres are in West Bengal and 370 acres in Odisha. Despite the initial delay, the project is expected to be completed soon, with the Railway Minister, Ashwini Kumar Vaishnaw, assuring its completion. The project is anticipated to ease congestion on the existing Howrah-Kharagpur-Jaleswar route to southern India, which is currently heavily utilized. This new line will provide a faster and safer alternative for passengers, reducing travel time to Puri by three hours.

Initial delay ke baavajood, project jaldi complete hone ki ummid hai, Railway Minister, Ashwini Kumar Vaishnaw ne iski completion ka assurance diya hai.
