Due to heavy rains and flooding in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, South Central Railway (SCR) has cancelled 21 trains and diverted 30 others. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to inquire about the situation in both states. Among the cancelled trains are 12669 MGR Chennai Central-Chhapra, 12670 Chhapra-MGR Chennai Central, 12615 MGR Chennai Central-New Delhi, and 12616 New Delhi-MGR Chennai Central. Trains like 12763 Tirupati-Secunderabad, 22352 SMVT Bengaluru-Patliputra, 22674 Mannargudi-Bhagat Ki Kothi, and 20805 Visakhapatnam-New Delhi have been diverted. Telangana Transport and Backward Classes (BC) Welfare Minister, Puna Prabhakar, visited stranded passengers at Kazipet Junction and assured them that train services will resume once the flood water recedes.

In addition, the South Zone has announced the continuation of weekly express trains between Kochuveli and SMVT Bengaluru for four trips. The train will run from September 3rd to 24th, departing Kochuveli at 6:05 PM and arriving in Bengaluru the next day at 10:55 AM. The return journey will be from September 4th to 25th, departing Bengaluru at 12:45 PM and arriving in Kochuveli the next day at 6:45 AM. The train will make stops at several stations including Quilon, Kayamkulam, Mavelikara, Chengannur, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrissur, Palakkad, Podanur, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Bangarapet, and Krishnarajapuram. There will be a temporary delay in the KSR Bengaluru to Ernakulam Express due to engineering works near Kalady in Kerala. The train will be delayed for 40 minutes on September 1st, 2024. Finally, there are some partial cancellations and rerouting of trains due to engineering works in Arakkonam yard. These include the Mysore-MGR Chennai train (12610) and the Patliputra-SMVT Bengaluru train (22351).

East Central Railway is extending the Varanasi Rajgir (Buddha Purnima) and Patliputra Yesvantpur Express trains to Saharsa. The existing routes of these trains are: Train number 14224 Varanasi Rajgir Buddha Purnima Express, which departs from Varanasi at 8:30 AM and reaches Rajgir at 6:00 AM the next day; and Train number 22352 Patliputra Yesvantpur Express, which departs from Bengaluru at 1:50 PM and reaches Patliputra at 10:25 AM on the third day. Officials have confirmed the proposed extension to Saharsa and hope it will provide much-needed convenience to passengers traveling between Patna, Rajgir, Kiul, Jamalpur, Munger, and Saharsa.
