264 trains, with 35 pairs (70 trains) running daily and 108 trains operating once a week. Other trains run two to four days a week. While Prayagraj is the most populated district in the state and known for its religious significance, with offices like the Allahabad High Court, 24 pairs of trains do not stop at the junction, even though it is the headquarters of the Railway's General Manager and Divisional Railway Manager. These trains stop at the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, about 150 km away. Given that the Kumbh Mela will be held in Prayagraj next year, there is a demand to ensure that all trains passing through the city stop there. The proposal for all non-stop trains passing through Prayagraj Junction to stop has been sent to the Railway Board in anticipation of the Kumbh Mela. The Senior DCM of the North Central Railway Prayagraj Division, Himanshu Shukla, is hopeful that the board will approve the proposal for the trains to stop at Prayagraj Junction.
