They also inspected the fuel, utensils, and packaged food used in the pantry car. Further inspections on the Pune-Danapur Mail Express (train number 12149) and the Mumbai-Banaras Superfast (train number 12167) found 13 passengers traveling without tickets and 65 passengers traveling in higher class coaches without authorization. A total of 80 passengers were penalized, resulting in a fine of 65,000 rupees. Passengers with waiting tickets in air-conditioned coaches were also removed, and those with general class tickets sitting in higher classes were fined. Unauthorized heavy luggage was also seized from passengers.

The train driver applied emergency brakes to stop the train, causing minor damage to the engine's front section. The collision caused panic among the passengers due to the loud noise and sudden jolt. Railway officials arrived at the scene, and after repairs to the damaged engine, the train resumed its journey after a 2.5-hour delay. The JCB operator, Randhir Kumar, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. The RPF took possession of the JCB. The incident caused disruption on the other track as well. Senior Railway officials including the DRM Varanasi, Lalji Chaudhary, reached the site. The damaged JCB was removed with the help of a crane, and the track was cleared after repairing the damaged railway track and engine. The train was then allowed to proceed.

Varanasi se DRM, Lalji Chaudhary, bhi site par pahunch gaye. Damaged JCB ko crane ki madad se hata diya gaya, aur track ko clear karne ke baad damaged railway track aur engine ki repair ki gayi. A checking campaign was conducted at Prayagraj junction, where 38,095 rupees were collected as fines from 73 passengers for various violations. 43 passengers were caught traveling without tickets, and 30 others were fined for violating other rules. The authorities also took action against six illegal vendors in Prayagraj and two in Kanpur, handing them over to the Railway Protection Force.
