Southern Railway begins work for second elephant underpass near Coimbatore

two towards Walayar. The Coimbatore - Shoranur MEMU (06805) and Shoranur - Coimbatore MEMU (06804) were cancelled. After successful placement of the girders, traffic resumed on the 'B' line. The first underpass, located at 'KM 505A/400 -500', was commissioned on June 10th. With a width of 18.3 meters and a height of 6 meters, it has been successfully used by elephants since its opening. The Railway and Forest Department expect a significant decrease in elephant fatalities with the use of the underpasses. A third underpass is being considered.

Coimbatore ki taraf aur two trains Walayar ki taraf divert hue. Coimbatore - Shoranur MEMU (06805) aur Shoranur - Coimbatore MEMU (06804) cancel kar diye gaye. Girder lagaane ke baad, 'B' line pe traffic chalna start ho gaya. Pehla underpass, 'KM 505A/400 -500' pe June 10th ko start hua tha. 18.3 meter chauda aur 6 meter uncha, yeh underpass elephants ka use karne ke liye successful raha hai. Railway aur Forest Department ka maanana hai ki underpass se elephants ki maut ka risk bahut kam ho jaayega. Teesra underpass banane par bhi vichar kiya ja raha hai.
