The first train arrived in Delhi via Ghaziabad on 1 st August 1864 laying the foundation of Delhi Division. The division grew in size and in terms of work load during the last 150 yrs. Today, it occupies a unique position amongst all the divisions of IR. It is indeed the front runner with 3000 track Kms, handling 1 million passengers a day, running 1000 trains a day, earning 8000 crores per annum. To commemorate 150 years of Delhi Division's dedicated service to the nation, year long celebrations have commenced with the release of the special cover by Department of Post on 7th May 2015.
