anvitjoshi^~ 2338 blog postsTraveled in this train yesterday/today from SUR to YPR. It took 18 hour 30 mins to cover the distance. While there were some people boarding from SUR, hardly 4-5 people boarded in BJP. The number further dipped in BGK and GDG. While there were group of students de-boarded train at BGK, i don't think this is the case every time. Even UBL didn't had much takers for this train as CDG - YPR KSK and Rani Chennamma Exp departs almost at same time. Another thing to be noted was most of the people were travelling from ADI.
So my point is, why run this train on a lengthy route via BJP-GDG-UBL which has 2 loco reversals? SUR - WADI -...

Even this route can be tried. The current route is really hopeless. The fastest route will be via WADI.
Solution to all the problems would be to double YNK - GTL line as early as possible.
I don't know wat swr priorities are. They ve started electrification of this route. Wats the point of electrification? Gy gtl is still not electrified. And electrifying sbc gtl will not yield any positive results without doubling. I feel it s double work, now they'll electrify single track, then undertake doubling, then electrify that again.
GY - GTL line is already doubled and electrified. In fact, MAS - CSTM Mail is getting electric loco from MAS to GTL. It is a very good move by SWR to electrify till GY. WADI - SC is also doubled and electrified. GTL - GR line is almost doubled (Except for Kosigi - Matamari). GTL - WADI electrification is in good swing. When YNK - GY will be electrified, SBC - GTL trains can get electric locos. And on completion of electrification of GTL - WADI (by mid 2015), Rajdhani can get an electric loco end-to-end :)
