Hopes Shattered, Annoyed Vizagites Take to Streets.
Expressing outrage over the neglect meted out to North Andhra region in the Union Railway budget, supporters of various opposition parties took to the streets and burnt the effigy of Railway minister Suresh Prabhu, here Thursday.

Railway passengers and people’s representatives of the Waltair division were expecting the announcement of the new railway zone as promised in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. Proposals were also made for sanction of new trains including Visakhapatnam-Tirupati weekly, Bhubaneswar-Bangalore bi-weekly and Visakhapatnam-New Delhi weekly superfast express via Raipur. The Visakhapatnam-Bangalore daily train, and a double-decker train between Chennai and Visakhapatnam, were also among the proposed new trains. However, Railway minister Suresh Prabhu made no mention of the new railway zone or any new train or railway line for the division.
