Trial run on newly electrified section successful
A trial run on the newly electrified section 86 route km between Shoranur and Kozhikode, under Palakkad railway division, was carried out on Thursday.
The trial was carried out by the divisional railway authorities and Central Organization for Railway Electrification (CORE), Project Unit, Chennai as a prelude to the inspection by the Commissioner of Railway Safety.

Mohan A. Menon, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad, who led the trial run along with the Electrical and Mechanical Engineers told The Hindu over telephone that the trial run was a success.
The detailed inspection by the CRS on the stretch will take place in April and the request had already been made to him by the railways, he added.
The proposed sub-station in Tirur is now the major hurdle for the commissioning of the electrified line as it has been entangled in litigation. “There is no back-up option once the line is energised and the sub-station in Tirur is urgently needed”, the ADRM said. The other sub-station at Elathur is getting ready.
