December 14, 2015
A Day to remember for all Bangalore based Rail Fanatics, it was on this...
more... day the Inauguration of Bio Diesel installation in Bangalore City Jn. happened. The first locomotive to be bestowed this honor was Krishnarajapuram (KJM) WDP4 20030. And The first train to be hauled from Bangalore City powered by a bio-diesel locomotive was the 12007 Mysore Shatabdi Express. It was a moment to cherish for all Railfans and officials alike. The Shatabdi was brought in bang on time by Arakkonam (AJJ) WAP1 22023. And within minutes, the WAP1 was decoupled and sent to the trip shed. And the decorated KJM EMD made its way to pf7 and got coupled to the Shatabdi Express and left bang on time for Mysore. The same loco later brought back the Shatabdi from Mysore to Bangalore. It was a moment worth cherishing for Indian Railways as a whole and South Western Railways in Specific. IR is moving towards producing a pollution free environment, whilst taking such eco-friendly steps. It is also to be noted that the first ever locomotive in South Western Railways to be fueled by bio-diesel was the WDM3A '14007R' also of KJM shed. The only difference was that the Bio-diesel was refueled in Hubli refueling station.
