Mr. Scindia is considered as one of the successful & dynamic Rly ministers. He is amongst the few politicians who believed in quality. He was a forward looking, technology savvy, proponent of modernisation and dignified minister with broad outlook, a rare breed amongst the contemporary politicians. I remember when First Shatabdi wa introduced in July88, Electrification wascompleted upto bina and Bina-BPL was under completion. The shatabdi was introduced upto Jhansi and then extended to BPL on eletrfication was completed after a few months. HWH-TATA shatabdi was slated to start after completion of signal upgradation of route. In contrast there was a time when later on a Shatabdi (probably second one for chandigarh) was inagurated with only 4 passenger coaches by removing a coach or two from other well patronized shatabdis.

Mr Suresh Prabhu’s (ShivSena) earlier stint with power ministry during Vajpayee Govt. had been excellent. He had brought many reforms including enacting of new electricity act. After being removed from ministry for not getting remote controlled by SS leadership Mr Prabhu took to low profile in SS. He could have done much more had SS not pulled the rug beneath for its vested interests. Now He is actually entrusted with very tough job as IRlys had been run in most fiscally imprudent manner since last 2 decades.he is taking excellent steps only time will tell whether he will be able tosucceed.
While forming new govt in 2014, PM Mr. Modi insisted to induct Mr. Prabhu from ShivSena’s quota which was again turned down by SS leadership. Railway is a priority area and close to heart of Mr. Modi. After not getting satisfied with just satisfactory stint of Mr Sadanand Gowda, Mr. Modi brought Mr. Prabhu into the cabinet from BJP quota in its first cabinet reshuffle in order to improve the condition of Indian Railways, much to the displeasure of his coalition partner and old ally SS.
If a tough taskmaster like Mr. Modi can go to such extent just to bring Mr. Prabhu in cabinet as MoR, no other explanation is required about the credentials.
