VGM BG. Let me narrate a real incident aboard the the CSTM-HWH Duronto that occurred on the night of 15th Feb (as told to me by the TTE later).
A Jharkhand MLA and his group of 6 chamchas were travelling in this train from Mumbai to Tata. 4 of them were in 2AC while 2 were in 3AC. But the whole evening on 15th the other two were in the 2AC coach with the remaining 4. They were talking loudly among themselves right upto midnight and disturbing fellow travellers....

As some of the other passengers complained to the TTE, he went and spoke to the MLA. Very courteously he requested the MLA to ask his 2 followers to return to their berths in 3AC. The MLA was very polite and mild-mannered and did not utter a word till the TTE had had his say.
Subsequent exchanges between them were on the following lines:
MLA: What is wrong if these two passengers sit here.They belong to my group of 6 and could not get berths in 2AC. That is why they are travelling in 3AC.
TTE :Sir, it is against the rules for a 3AC pax to be sitting in 2AC.
MLA: TTE sahab, Railway belongs to the janata and not to you employees of IR, who think they OWN the railways. Please remember that RULES EXIST FOR HUMAN BEINGS and not the other way round like you say where HUMAN BEINGS EXIST FOR RULES. TTe sahab, do not be so rule-bound and harass the COMMON MAN OF THIS COUNTRY. Do you know understand WHY TTEs ARE OFTEN THROWN OUT OF RUNNING TRAINS. It is too late night now and YOU GO TO YOUR BERTH AND SLEEP.
Right through the MLA was very polite but the TTE got the HIDDEN MESSAGE and decided that DISCRETION WAS BETTER THAN DUTY.
