How can a loco pilot start off without getting the guard's approval?
It is a standard protocol followed worldwide , the guard's green signal gives the clearance for the loco pilot that 1. 'All is clear' 2. 'All the passengers have safetly boarded' 3.' The train looks fine from the front to the rear hence you may proceed!'.
