Travelled from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Jhansi and back in 12050/12049 Gatimaan Express. Some observations:
- Work on the third line between AGC and JHS is slowly picking up. Saw pilings for a third bridge on Chambal near Dholpur and some earthwork near Morena.
-...
more... True though it is that the section from AGC to LAR is rated for 130 kmph, there are still issues to be resolved. Some of them are trivial (for instance sudden SWR stretches on some of the stations, which cause the train to drop speed), but others are going to be somewhat tough to crack (such as 90 kmph ghat sections near Gwalior and Datia, and low speed bridges on Chambal, Gambhir, and Khari).
- 12050 arrived some 35 minutes late at JHS. The delay was because of Taj Express running in front of us till Mathura (cost us 20 minutes), and the resulting delay causing NZM-VSKP AP AC SF Express to be pushed onto the mainline in front of us at Mathura (which cost us another 15 minutes till we could finally overtake it outside Gwalior). This emphasizes the need for a third overtake line, as well as the necessity of an overall speedup. Thankfully, both things seem to be on IR's medium term agenda.
I was also able to capture a video while crossing the rain-swollen Chambal, which I will share once I have better connectivity.
