Today evening, something really unexpected happened at Tikiapara Railway Station, near Howrah Railway Station.

People from the 38918 Amta to Howrah Local stopped the local at Tikiapara, got down, and lay down on the tracks at around 7 pm. to protest.
REASON: Persistent delay of locals towards Amta from Howrah and vice versa.

Hundreds of people lay on the tracks for hours. No one could move them. Railway officials then came to do some agreement. The office of the station master at Howrah was attacked later on as well. All in one eventful evening.

No trains departed from Howrah or arrived at Howrah after 7 pm.

Only as late as 11 pm. tonight was the protest called off after due discussion with the railway officials (as was claimed by the news channels).

Trains like Jagannath Express, Mumbai Mail, which were supposed to depart long back have still not departed. Trains like Dhauli Express, Barbil Jan-Shatabdi Express have not yet arrived Howrah.

Totally sad event, but a required one maybe.
