• Pedestrian Subway near Barasat station in service to the users
For the convenience of the local inhabitants & rail users, Eastern Railway has opened a pedestrian subway near Barasat Railway station on 16.7.2019 to cater to the need of local inhabitants and rail users of Barasat area. This subway provided easy, convenient and safe passage of the users from one side of the railway track to the other.

more... The Barasat pedestrian subway has been constructed in lieu of the closed Level Crossing Gate No. 12/T where previously a road overbridge was constructed replacing the level crossing.
The local inhabitants and rail users urged upon for construction of a pedestrian subway at this area and Eastern Railway made all-out effort to construct the subway for their convenience.
The Barasat pedestrian subway has an inner width of 3 meters, a height of 2.70 meters and length of 40.70 meters. The subway has two main entry and exit points, one at Goods/siding line end (‘Colony More’ side) and the other at Buffer line end (‘Haritala’ side). The approximate cost of construction of the subway is Rs.1.82 crore and is of immense use for the local inhabitants who were earlier crossing the through the railway track in this area ignoring the possibility of fatal incident on trespassing the Railway line.
