Railways will introduce new Uday rake for Chennai-Bengaluru double decker express in a day or two. Sources said the new double decker rake would replace the one being used on the route now since the train’s launch in 2013..

The new rake is similar to the ones in use now and hence many not offer additional onboard amenities to passengers. However, the new coaches are expected to make the journey less of a hassle.

Trial runs of the coaches were held a few times over the past few days and it will be inducted on the route after it is cleared by officials. The rake is getting finishing touches in the maintenance yard to make it ready for use..

“The features of the coaches are the same, including the number of seats and the spacing between the seats. The passenger may not notice any difference but for the fact that it is a new rake,” he added..

There may be an improvement in the air-conditioning because there were complaints off and on from passengers about poor air-conditioning in double decker train to Bengaluru.
