Pulling the alarm chain invites the RPF attention and if caught, potential fine/arrest. If the train's speed was slow, in a moment of thinking, I can assume someone making the choice of jumping and over estimating their chances. That being said, I do agree, that there are two sides to each coin and the original story bears merit until a full investigation can be done.
