The discovery of a route to make a railroad in Bhor Ghat came after an information from local Dhangar tribes called Shigroba. The Great Indian Peninsula Railway thus decided to lay a railway line from Mumbai to Pune through Bhor Ghat with 28 tunnels, and bridges in 1863. The Lonavla and Khandala station still stands as a golden remembrance of the great engineering age.
