After coastal Karnataka, people in Maharashtra’s Konkan region demand merger of Konkan Railway with Indian Railways

The Konkan Vikas Samithi, representing people of the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg regions in Maharashtra, has urged the Indian Railway Minister to merge the Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL) with the Indian Railways. They argue that KRCL's financial constraints are hindering the development of the vital railway network, impacting the growth of Raigad, Ratnagiri,...

and Sindhudurg districts. The Samithi highlights that KRCL's doubling project is lagging, platforms at many stations are low-level, and they charge a unique surcharge on passengers and freight. They believe that merging with Indian Railways would ensure seamless integration, bridge transportation gaps, expedite infrastructure projects, create a dedicated freight corridor, and achieve these developments in 10 years instead of the projected 40-50 years under KRCL. Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg MP Vinayak Raut echoes these sentiments, stating that KRCL's inability to enhance infrastructure is harming the Konkan region's growth in Maharashtra, thus advocating for its merger with Indian Railways.

Konkan Vikas Samithi, jo Maharashtra ke Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg region ke logo ko represent karta hai, ne Indian Railway Minister se Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL) ko Indian Railways mein merge karne ka maang kiya hai. Unka kehna hai ki KRCL ke paise ki kami se railway network ka development nahi ho raha...

hai, aur isse Raigad, Ratnagiri aur Sindhudurg districts ka growth affected ho raha hai. Samithi ne highlight kiya hai ki KRCL ka doubling project lag raha hai, bahut saare stations ke platforms kam level pe hain, aur woh passengers aur freight pe ek unique surcharge charge karte hain. Unka maanana hai ki Indian Railways mein merge karne se seamless integration, transport gaps ko bridge karna, infrastructure projects ko expedite karna, dedicated freight corridor create karna, aur yeh saare development 10 saal mein ho jayenge, jabki KRCL ke neeche yeh 40-50 saal mein hota. Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg ke MP Vinayak Raut bhi yehi baat bolte hain, aur unka kehna hai ki KRCL infrastructure ko enhance nahi kar pa raha hai, jisse Maharashtra ke Konkan region ka growth suffer ho raha hai, isliye unhone bhi KRCL ko Indian Railways mein merge karne ki maang ki hai.
