Mumbai’s Gokhale Bridge’s first girder to be in place tonight

The first girder of the new Gopal Krishna Gokhale Bridge in Mumbai's Andheri is set to be fully positioned by Wednesday night, just three weeks after its launch. The 90-meter girder was transported to Mumbai from an Ambala workshop and assembled near the construction site. It has been gradually slid towards...

the western side since December 3, connecting the east-west stretch. The Western Railway approved a 11-day traffic block, allowing the girder to be lowered by 550 millimeters every night. Once fully positioned, the bridge level will be lowered to match the approach roads. One arm of the bridge will open for traffic by February 15, with the entire bridge expected to be operational by May 2024. The new bridge replaces the old 77-meter Gokhale Bridge, which was shut down last November due to structural instability. The new bridge is the second longest railway over bridge in Mumbai, after the 99.8-meter Vidyavihar ROB.

Mumbai ke Andheri mein Gopal Krishna Gokhale Bridge ka pehla girder Wednesday raat tak apni jagah par set ho jaayega, ye launch ke sirf teen hafta baad ho raha hai. 90 meter lamba girder Ambala workshop se Mumbai laya gaya tha aur construction site ke paas assemble kiya gaya. December 3...

se yeh gradually western side ki taraf slide kiya ja raha hai, jisse east-west stretch connect ho raha hai. Western Railway ne 11 din ka traffic block approve kiya hai, jisse har raat 550 millimetres girder ko neeche laaya jaa raha hai. Poori tarah se position hone ke baad, bridge ka level approach roads se match karne ke liye neeche kiya jaayega. Bridge ka ek arm February 15 tak traffic ke liye khul jaayega, aur May 2024 tak poora bridge operational hone ki ummeed hai. Naya bridge purane 77 meter Gokhale Bridge ki jagah lega, jisko November mein structural instability ke karan band kar diya gaya tha. Naya bridge Mumbai ka dusra sabse lamba railway over bridge hai, 99.8 meter Vidyavihar ROB ke baad.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
