This new route, entirely within the jurisdiction of North Eastern Railway, will allow them to operate trains on their schedule. The new route will also reduce the dependence on Northern Railway for path allocation, as the current route passes through Bareilly, leading to capacity issues. The remaining work between Shahgarh and Pilibhit is in its final stages, with the CRS inspection already completed. The line is expected to be fully operational by February.
