The USBRL, once completed, will boast infrastructural marvels like the Chenab bridge, the world's highest railway bridge, and the Anji bridge, the first cable-stayed bridge of the Indian Railways. The total length of the USBRL is 272 km and the cost of the project is ₹41,119 crore. The first section of the USBRL, the Quazigund-Baramulla section, was operationalised in 2009, and the Banihal-Quazigund section, including the T-80 Pir Panjal tunnel, opened in 2013.
