In February 2018, 24 carriages of a freight train derailed, impacting rail services on the Mumbai-Howrah up line and Satna-Rewa track. In October 2018, four carriages of a coal-laden freight train derailed near Satna, followed by two carriages overturning. In August 2021, a freight train split into two parts near Satna due to a broken coupling, narrowly avoiding a major accident.
