He also mentioned efforts to streamline freight train operations, aiming to avoid unnecessary stops at intermediate stations. This would save time and provide convenience for railway staff. During his one-day visit, the DRM inspected passenger facilities and developmental works, emphasizing the improvement of train speed. Meetings with ECR, PDDY Nagar's DRM, and NER DRM were held to discuss the coordinated development of the railway network. To curb unauthorized passengers, a special plan has been implemented between Cantt and DDU. This involves checking trains at Cantt Station for those bound for PDDY Nagar and checking trains from DDU and Varanasi at DDU station. This is expected to significantly curb unauthorized travel. The Varanasi-Chandigarh special train, which started on June 22nd, is seeing positive response. It was fully booked even before commencement, and the DRM has instructed officials to monitor it, potentially making it a weekly service. The DRM also discussed the design of a new signature bridge over the Ganges, which will have four railway tracks and a six-lane road above. This long-term project is currently in the design phase, with all necessary procedures completed by the railway authorities. This bridge will facilitate smooth train movements to and from P.D.D. Upadhyay Station, including those for freight trains.
