Despite the increase in revenue, the metro's expenses still exceeded its income. The total expenditure for the 2023-24 financial year was ₹1962.85 crores, with major expenses including operational costs, employee salaries, administrative costs, and interest payments on bank loans. The Hyderabad Metro has been operational for six years, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, it incurred significant losses. Currently, the metro operates extended hours, starting earlier on weekdays and running until midnight on Fridays, indicating its popularity among commuters.
