The exact route will be finalized after submitting the location sketch. The project is expected to reduce travel time between Kochi and Bengaluru to 7 hours, Wayanad and Bengaluru to 2.5 hours, and Mysore to 1 hour. The state government is now willing to support the project as the previously favored Thalassery-Mysore rail link failed to materialize. In 2013, the UDF government appointed E Sreedharan to conduct the final survey, but the project stalled due to the lack of funds from the state government.

Final location sketch submit hone ke baad hi exact route pata chalega. Project se Kochi aur Bengaluru ke beech travel time 7 hours, Wayanad aur Bengaluru ke beech 2.5 hours aur Mysore tak 1 hour mein complete ho jaayega. State government ab project ko support karne ko ready hai, kyunki Thalassery-Mysore rail link, jisko state pehle support kar raha tha, successful nahin ho paya.
