The Indian Railways has implemented a major healthcare policy change. All railway employees, their dependents, and pensioners will now receive a unique Medical Identification (UMID) card. This card will allow them to access free healthcare at designated railway hospitals and all AIIMS hospitals without any referrals. The order, issued by the...

Executive Director, Transformation, Pranav Kumar Malik on Monday, comes into effect immediately. This new policy was implemented after receiving feedback from railway employees and pensioners who complained about the previous referral system, which often involved doctors favoring certain hospitals. The new system will eliminate the need for referrals and provide a standardized list of hospitals and diagnostic centers. The UMID card, accessible via the Health Management Information System (HMIS) app, will be stored in the employee/pensioner's DigiLocker account. The card enables free access to healthcare services at all railway hospitals, panelled private hospitals, and diagnostic centers. The railways will provide UMID numbers for those who haven't received their cards yet, ensuring access to treatment. Importantly, this policy eliminates the need for referrals for outpatient, inpatient, and diagnostic services at AIIMS hospitals, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, and other national institutions, allowing patients to receive both treatment and medication.

Indian Railways ne apne healthcare policy mein bada change kiya hai. Ab sabhi railway employees, unke dependents aur pensioners ko Unique Medical Identification (UMID) card diya jaayega. Is card ke sahare, unko bina kisi referral ke, designated railway hospitals aur sabhi AIIMS hospitals mein free treatment mil payega. Monday ko Executive...

Director, Transformation, Pranav Kumar Malik ne yeh order issue kiya hai aur yeh order immediately effective hai. Is policy mein change, railway employees aur pensioners ki complaints ki wajah se aaya hai, jinki complaints referral system ko lekar thi. Is system mein doctors apne preferred hospitals ke naam par referral dete the. Is new system se yeh problem completely solve ho jaayegi. Railways sabhi employees, pensioners aur unke dependents ke liye hospitals aur diagnostic centers ki list release karega. UMID card, Health Management Information System (HMIS) app ke through mil jayega, aur yeh employee/pensioner ke DigiLocker mein bhi store hoga. Is card ke sahare, unko sabhi railway hospitals, panelled private hospitals, aur diagnostic centers mein free healthcare services mil payegi. Agar kisi ko card nahin mila hai, to railway unko UMID number de dega, so that woh treatment access kar sake. Sabse important baat yeh hai ki is policy se, AIIMS hospitals, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, aur other national institutions mein outpatient, inpatient, aur diagnostic services ke liye referral ki zarurat nahin padegi. Patients ko treatment ke saath saath medicine bhi mil payegi.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
