Kerala govt. agrees to shoulder 50% of revised estimate for Sabari rail project

The Kerala government has agreed to fund 50% of the revised cost of the Angamali-Sabari Railway project, but with the condition that the debt incurred by KIIFB (Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board) for the project be exempted from the state's borrowing limit. The project's cost has risen to ₹3,810.69 crore from...

the original ₹2,815 crore. The state government has argued that the project's importance to the region justifies this request, considering that passenger traffic has increased significantly since the project was initially planned in 1997-98. The letter from the Kerala government was forwarded to the Union Finance Ministry for approval, as the Railway Board cannot make a decision on the state's rider. Meanwhile, Railways are also considering an alternative route to the Sabarimala hill shrine from Chengannur, which would be fully funded by the central government and require ₹10,000 crore.

Kerala government ne Angamali-Sabari Railway project ke revised cost ka 50% fund karne ka agree kar diya hai, lekin ek condition ke saath ki KIIFB (Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board) dwara project ke liye uthaye gaye debt ko state ke borrowing limit se exempt kiya jaaye. Project ki cost badh kar...

₹3,810.69 crore ho gayi hai, jo pehle ₹2,815 crore thi. State government ne argument kiya hai ki project ki is region ke liye importance ko dekhte hue yeh request justified hai, considering ki 1997-98 mein project plan hone ke baad passenger traffic mein bahut badhotari aayi hai. Kerala government ka letter Union Finance Ministry ko approval ke liye forward kiya gaya hai, kyuki Railway Board state ke rider par koi decision nahin le sakta. Iske saath hi Railways Chengannur se Sabarimala hill shrine tak ek alternative route par bhi consider kar rahe hain, jo ki central government dwara fully funded hoga aur jisko execute karne ke liye ₹10,000 crore ki jaroorat hogi.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
