Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is expanding its metro network in Chennai with the ambitious Phase 2 project, which includes three corridors totaling 116.1 kilometers. meters, passing beneath the Adyar River for 300 meters with an overburden of 10 to 13 meters. Two Earth Pressure Balancing (EPB) Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), named 'Kaveri' and 'Adyar', are crucial for this project. TBM Kaveri has successfully completed its tunnel drive and achieved a breakthrough at the Adyar shaft, navigating through mixed geological conditions. The machine encountered hard rock formations below parts of the Adyar River, requiring 65 cutter head interventions. TBM Adyar is currently 277 meters away from the Adyar shaft and is expected to reach its destination by November 2024. The successful operation of both TBMs is crucial for meeting the project timelines and ensuring the efficient construction of the metro network. The Phase 2 project promises to improve urban mobility and contribute to Chennai's sustainable development goals.

mein do tunnels hain, har ek lagbhag 1,228 meters lamba hai, aur Adyar River ke niche 300 meters tak jaata hai, jiska overburden 10 se 13 meters hai. 'Kaveri' aur 'Adyar' naam ke do Earth Pressure Balancing (EPB) Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) is project ke liye bahut important hain. TBM Kaveri ne apna tunnel drive successfully complete kar liya hai aur Adyar shaft par breakthrough achieve kiya hai, mixed geological conditions se guzarte hue. Machine ko Adyar River ke niche hard rock formations ka samna karna pada, jiske liye 65 cutter head interventions ki zarurat padi. TBM Adyar is waqt Adyar shaft se 277 meters door hai aur November 2024 tak apne destination par pahunchne ki ummeed hai. Dono TBMs ka successful operation project ke timelines ko meet karne aur metro network ke efficient construction ko ensure karne ke liye bahut important hai. Phase 2 project se urban mobility mein improvement aane ki ummeed hai aur Chennai ke sustainable development goals mein yogdaan dene ki ummeed hai.
