20-year wait ends as Pattabiram ROB partially opened in Chennai

The partially opened Road Over Bridge (ROB) in Pattabiram, Chennai, after six years of construction, provides relief to commuters and residents. This two-lane section of the four-lane bridge, built over level crossing gate 2 between Pattabiram and Pattabiram Military siding stations, facilitates two-way traffic between Avadi and Thiruninravur. This 11-meter wide...

and 780-meter long bridge addresses a 20-year-old need in the area. The ROB was constructed at a cost of Rs 55 crore. The remaining work, including a 4-meter-long flyover above the railway line, will commence after closing the level crossing. Additionally, a roundabout near the Pattabiram police station is planned with land acquisition already completed. Local activist T Sadagopan highlighted the previous detour of 6-7 km that residents had to take, leading to a 45-minute delay in crossing the level crossing gate. He also mentioned the loss of connectivity due to the cancellation of MTC buses during the ROB construction and requested the restoration of bus routes that existed before 2017-18.

Chennai ke Pattabiram mein ban raha Road Over Bridge (ROB) ab aakhirkar khul gaya hai, yeh 6 saal se ban raha tha! Ab commuters aur western suburbs ke residents ko rahat mili hai. Yeh four-lane ROB ka do lane wala section hai, yeh level crossing gate 2 ke upar banaya gaya...

hai, Pattabiram aur Pattabiram Military siding stations ke beech mein. Isse Avadi aur Thiruninravur ke beech mein do-way traffic chalega. Yeh bridge 11 meter chauda aur 780 meter lamba hai, yeh area ke residents ki 20 saal purani demand ko pura karega. ROB 55 crore rupees mein banaya gaya hai. Baki ka kaam, jaise ki railway line ke upar 4 meter lamba flyover, level crossing band hone ke baad hi shuru hoga. Pattabiram police station ke paas ek roundabout bhi banne wala hai, jiske liye land acquisition poora ho chuka hai.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
