Walking down AC Chord(Andul-Calcutta) was something which i had longed for. and today was that very special day when i found out some scope and time to fulfill this long pending Dream. left my home at about 11AM and went to my Home station BGJT and boarded a fairly crowded BRP-SDAH local and got down at SDAH. SDAH today was a tad less crowded and without any discomfort except the gaudy weather i boarded 32233 DKAE Local.
At SDAH i spotted a galore of Locos starting with a Barbie liveried ASN WAG 5, then a LDH WAG 7 followed by 2 GZB WAP 7s and 4 WAP 4s of HWH and MGS shed.
The...
more... run was smooth till RCD where i got down to walk one of my dreams in life. Sun was shining bright but it was not enough to dampen the spirit......
the idea was to go some KMs down AC Chord and capture the 03101 SDAH-PURI Summer Special on this Track. i was not left with sadness when the honk of an electric loco alarmed me.........i got ready with my Cam and through the lenses saw the train curving into the Chord line leaving the main DKAE track. it was the Same LDH WAG 7 in the lead which i had spotted in SDAH. thrill ran down spine as i captured this special (in every respects)that too with a rare offlink.
as it vanished in the glaring sunlight i restarted my walking the target now being visiting Bhattanagar (BTNG), the station without a platform and the last of ER in this route.
but things did not prove too easy.......after walking sometime over the ballasts i found that there is no more space to walk by the side of the tracks and being a very busy Freight route i did not take a chance.....i got down at a LC and from there took a bus to Kona from where i resumed by walking again. and this time i struck the right route.........a road beside the AC Chord Tracks......after walking for some 3 KMs i found my destination.........with Twin TATA WAG 7s and a Lone AJNI WAG 9 standing at BTNG waiting for signals to proceed towards Andul. BTNG is a crossing station. the track between Bhattanagar and Baltikuri (SERs first station on this route) is single so trains have to wait here. i reached the station building(better to say a single storeyed house) and found to my utter surprise the presence of a good no. of GRPs. i couldn't therefore click pics to my heart's content........but still have managed some......the surroundings were absolutely mesmerising with no houses in view and surrounded by large lakes (locally known as BILS).....after some clicks i started back and then found a NKJ WAG 5 crawling past BTNG amd minutes later the AJNI G9 honking out and started moving towards Andul. it was absolutely wonderful to be present there in the FREIGHT MELA. i then walked back to Bhattanagar bus stand (another 3 KMs) to get back home.
Here i share some Pics....will share the video later.
