Railways collect over Rs 6112 cr from 2019-2023 ticket cancellations, reveals RTI

Indian Railways collected a massive Rs 6112 crore from ticket cancellations between 2019 and 2023. deemed insignificant considering the volume of tickets generated daily (around 70-80 lakh). Recent years have witnessed frequent unscheduled train suspensions and cancellations in the South East Central Railways (SECR) zone, causing significant inconvenience to passengers. A petitioner, Kamal Dubey, has challenged these cancellations in court, highlighting the preferential treatment given to freight trains while passenger trains are repeatedly cancelled. The court has directed the railways to provide alternative arrangements or notify passengers about the cancellation of passenger trains to enable them to choose other modes of transportation.

Indian Railways ne 2019 se 2023 ke beech ticket cancel karne se Rs 6112 crore kama liya! Lekin railway officials ka kehna hai ki yeh amount kam hai aur yeh unki earning mein nahi aata. Ticket cancellation se aane wala pura paisa IRCTC, ek independent public sector undertaking ko jaata hai....

Roj lagbhag 70-80 lakh tickets generate hone ke baad, yeh amount zyada nahi hai. Recent saalo mein, South East Central Railways (SECR) zone mein aane waale kai passenger trains ko achanak band kar diya gaya ya unki services cancel kar di gayi hai, jisse passengers ko bahut pareshani ho rahi hai. Ek petitioner, Kamal Dubey, ne court mein yeh cancelations challenge ki hai, aur yeh bataya hai ki freight trains ko priority di jaati hai jabki passenger trains bar bar cancel ho jaati hain. Court ne railways ko instructions di hain ki ya toh passengers ke liye koi alternative arrangements karne hain, ya phir unhe pata laga dena hai ki passenger trains cancel ho rahi hain, taaki woh aur option choose kar sake.
