and Line 5 from Madhavaram to Koyambedu to Avadi. Feasibility studies were conducted for these extensions. While the state government approved detailed project reports for the Line 4 (Poonamallee-Parandur) and Line 5 (Koyambedu-Avadi) extensions, it rejected the Line 3 extension to Guindy citing low passenger demand due to a lack of educational institutions and offices in the proposed route. However, the Metro Rail authorities have proposed an alternate extension from Siruseri to Thiruporur via Kelambakkam, with the possibility of further extending it to Mahabalipuram. The selection of consultants to prepare detailed project reports for the Line 4 and Line 5 extensions is ongoing, with the aim of submitting the reports to the state government within six months.

Parandur tak, aur Line 5 ko Madhavaram se Koyambedu se Avadi tak extend karna tha. In extensions ke liye feasibility studies ki gayi. State government ne Line 4 (Poonamallee-Parandur) aur Line 5 (Koyambedu-Avadi) extensions ke liye detailed project reports approve kiya, lekin Line 3 extension ko Guindy tak reject kar diya kyonki proposed route mein educational institutions aur offices ki kami ke wajah se passenger demand kam hone ki baat thi. Lekin Metro Rail authorities ne Siruseri se Thiruporur tak Kelambakkam ke raaste ek alternate extension propose kiya hai, jisko further Mahabalipuram tak extend karne ki sambhavna hai. Line 4 aur Line 5 extensions ke liye detailed project reports prepare karne ke liye consultants ka selection chal raha hai, jiska aim 6 mahine ke andar state government ko reports submit karna hai.
