However, the Metro Rail authorities have proposed an alternate extension from Siruseri to Thiruporur via Kelambakkam, with the possibility of further extending it to Mahabalipuram. State government ne Line 4 (Poonamallee-Parandur) aur Line 5 (Koyambedu-Avadi) extensions ke liye detailed project reports approve kiya, lekin Line 3 extension ko Guindy tak reject kar diya kyonki proposed route mein educational institutions aur offices ki kami ke wajah se passenger demand kam hone ki baat thi. Lekin Metro Rail authorities ne Siruseri se Thiruporur tak Kelambakkam ke raaste ek alternate extension propose kiya hai, jisko further Mahabalipuram tak extend karne ki sambhavna hai. Line 4 aur Line 5 extensions ke liye detailed project reports prepare karne ke liye consultants ka selection chal raha hai, jiska aim 6 mahine ke andar state government ko reports submit karna hai.
