Railway electrification has been increased significantly, from 20,000 km in 2014 to 60,000 km currently, and the daily rate of new track construction has jumped from 4 km in 2014 to 14.5 km in the last financial year. The Railway ministry also highlighted the significant increase in jobs created under the Modi government compared to the previous UPA government, and announced plans to manufacture 2,500 general coaches this year, with an additional 10,000 to be manufactured in the future.
