CCTV footage at Tatanagar Railway Station identified a suspect who frequently boarded and disembarked various trains and was seen roaming around the station. The suspect was subsequently identified as Raghu Khosla, who pulled the chain of a train to escape and boarded the 12834 Howrah-Ahmedabad Express train at Tatanagar, heading towards Rourkela. The flying squad apprehended him at Chakradharpur Railway Station. During interrogation, Khosla confessed to stealing a woman's bag on the 12834 Howrah-Ahmedabad Express train. The GRP, informed by the RPF, arrested him. The woman who had her belongings stolen filed an FIR with the Rourkela GRP and the case was transferred to Chakradharpur GRP, where the accused was sent to jail. Khosla would deceive passengers by posing as a journalist or a businessman and befriending them. He then would steal purses from women passengers. He admitted to selling stolen jewelry from purses in Rourkela jewelry stores, and the police are questioning jewelry store owners. Over 37 cases of theft on trains are registered against Khosla in various cities including Mumbai, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, Indore, and Vijayawada. He would target women's purses on trains and change cities to evade authorities. The police are investigating other potential cases. Khosla was caught after stealing a purse from a cancer-stricken woman on the Gyaneshwari Express train. He pulled the chain to escape and boarded the Howrah-Ahmedabad Express, ultimately leading him to the RPF flying squad.

Woh trains mein mahilaon ke purse chura leta tha aur phir jab security forces ki dabiash badhti thi to woh city badal kar new city mein chori karne chala jata tha. Police dusre possible cases ki jaanch kar rahi hai. Khosla ko tab pakda gaya jab woh Gyaneshwari Express train se ek cancer patient mahila yatri ka AC coach se purse chura raha tha. Usne train ki chain khinch kar bhaagna chaha aur Howrah-Ahmedabad Express mein chad gaya, jiske karan woh RPF flying squad ke haathon pakda gaya.
