The inspection was successful and the line is expected to be operational by August 15th, with the first train crossing the world's highest steel arch bridge at Chenab. Work on the remaining 16 km section between Katra and Reasi is being fast-tracked, with tunnel number one near Katra being worked on round-the-clock. Trials have been conducted on the line with speeds up to 110 km/h and three helipads are being constructed near the Kauri site of the world's highest railway arch bridge, in anticipation of a Prime Ministerial visit.
