According to police, he fell ill after the train left Narkatiaganj and died before the train reached Bapudham Motihari. Passengers alerted the TTE after which RPF Muzaffarpur took custody of the body.

Isse lekar RPF Muzaffarpur mein UD case darj kiya gaya hai. Chandan, jo Delhi mein ek private company mein naukri karta tha, Anand Vihar se Muzaffarpur aane ke liye Saptakranti pe savaar hua. Police se mili jaankari ke anusar, Narkatiaganj se train ke khulne ke baad uski tabiyat kharab ho gayi. Iske baad woh apne berth pe so gaya. Uska hath latak ja raha tha. Uske compartment mein bethe logon ko dikkat ho rahi thi. Train ke Bapudham Motihari se aage nikalne ke baad yaatriyon ne TTE ko jaankari di. Iske baad Muzaffarpur RPF ke training DI Inspector Ranjit Kumar ke nirdhesh par shav ko kabze mein lekar panchnama kiya gaya aur aage ki prakriya kar chhote bhai Gunjan Kumar ko sौंप दिया.
