The 52.7 km long railway line will connect Anandnagar, Maharajganj, and Ghugali, with electric trains operating on the line. The project is expected to facilitate travel from Punjab and Delhi to Assam and the Northeast. The Ministry of Railways has approved ₹958.27 crore for the project, with ₹875.30 crore allocated for civil works, ₹18.17 crore for signaling and telecommunications, and ₹64.26 crore for electrical work. A total of 191.059 hectares of land will be acquired, and the line will feature 7 stations, including Anandnagar, Maharajganj, and Ghugali crossing stations, as well as 4 halt stations.
