In name it is an express,but actually it is a passenger train.I think, in future number of stops should increases to nearly 25-40.For what purpose railway giving so much stops for express trains? Also Loop line stations consume more time than other stations.
Couple of months back, 16302/01 was given temporary stoppage @ STKT where both platforms are on loop line. As such Venad runs late; now Railways have an additional excuse for its late running. Wish they designed stations in such a way that platforms are on the main line & not on loops; wish they constructed more stations like PVRD/AMPA where both up & down platforms lie on mainline. Also the scope of increasing maximum permitted speed on loop lines from current 15 kmph to atleast 30(am not sure if this can be done... more...
due to technical reasons) should be explored; former DRM/TVC did try to increase the loop line speed, but didn't succeed. PUU - PGT Express is going to be a glorified passenger; wish they classified it as FP so that ticket fares will be less!!
