The tendering process for the project will begin in September and the construction of the elevated track will start with a budget of ₹995 crore. The new design for the elevated track involves a single railway line instead of a double line and a girder-supported track instead of a box-shaped viaduct. This will reduce the project's cost and will also include a new elevated station near the university and a loop line for stopping trains. The project will also eliminate the Rawatpur and Kalyanpur railway stations. The elevated track will be built on pillars with a box-shaped section at the beginning and end to facilitate smooth transitions. The project will take three years to complete.

The crossings, particularly those at Jarib Chauki, Gumti No. 5, Coca Cola Crossing, Gutteya, Gitanganj, No. 9, Shardanganj, Dalhan Crossing, Bagia Crossing, Kalyanpur, Guba Garden, IIT, and Mandhana, are notorious for congestion due to the train crossings, which are closed for two minutes before and after each train passage.
