Around 8:30 PM, they reached the railway track near Bandamunda A Cabin, prompting the railway authorities to suspend train operations. This resulted in the halting of around 15 trains, including the Howrah Mumbai Gitanjali Express. The Forest Department had informed the Chakradharpur Division Railway about the presence of 28 elephants near the railway line. The disruption impacted operations in Manoharpur, Goilkera, and Rourkela. The Howrah Mumbai Mail, which travels through Tatanagar, was stopped at Ghatshila due to the elephant sighting, while the Shalimar Kurla Express was stopped beyond Chakradharpur. After the Forest Department successfully drove the elephants away from the track after 11:30 PM, the railway authorities resumed train operations at 10 km/h with horns sounding. Notably, a few days earlier, a baby elephant was killed and another injured after being hit by a goods train in the same area.

Is ghatna ki jaankari milte hi railway authorities ne train ka chalna band kar diya. Is wajah se Howrah Mumbai Gitanjali Express sahit 15 ke aaspaas train ruk gayi. Forest Department ne Chakradharpur Division Railway ko railway line ke paas 28 elephants hone ki jaankari di thi. Isse Manoharpur, Goilkera aur Rourkela mein train chalne mein dikkat hui. Tatanagar se chalne wali Howrah Mumbai Mail ko elephant dekhne ke baad Ghatshila mein rok diya gaya, aur Chakradharpur se aage Shalimar Kurla Express ko rok diya gaya. Raat 11:30 baje ke baad, Forest Department ke employees ne elephant ko track se bhaga diya, aur railway authorities ne 10 km/h ki speed se horn bajate hue train chalana shuru kiya.
