न्यूज 18 द्वारा घटना का खुलासा किए जाने के बाद डीआरएम ने स्वीकार करते हुए मुकदमा दर्ज करा दिया है.
रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक वारदात गंगाघाट थाने के 66/34खम्भे के पास देर रात करीब 2:45 मिनट पर घटी. अराजक तत्वों द्वारा अमृतसर-कटिहार एक्सप्रेस को डिरेल करने के लिए ट्रैक पर 4.4 फीट के रेल के टुकडे डाले गए थे, जिससे ट्रेन पलट जाए, ड्राइवर ने एमरजेन्सी ब्रेक लगाकर ट्रेन को रोक दिया जिससे ट्रेन मे जोरदार झटके के साथ रुक गई.ड्राइवर ने रात में ही मामले की सूचना रेलवे अधिकारियों दे दी थी, लेकिन न्यूज18 के खुलासे के बाद ही मामले पर सूबह मुकदमा दर्ज किया गया. जीआरपी प्रभारी सुबेदार यादव ने कहा कि ड्राइवर की समझदारी से एक बड़े हादसे को टाला जा सका.

The Railways announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh for the deceased, Rs 2.5 lakh for grievously injured, and Rs 50,000 for minor injuries. Track restoration work is underway, and a special train carrying 600 passengers left for Assam on Friday. The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
